Scholarships & Awards

Many colleges and universities offer various scholarships and awards to students who intend to pursue further education at their particular school. Beginning in October, please feel free to check in the Guidance Office for updated information on available scholarships. Also check the bulletin boards around the school for scholarship information.

Dunkin' Scholarship:
The Dunkin' Philadelphia Regional Scholarship Program will award 25 $2000 scholarships to qualified students.  The application is available from March 1 - April  15, 2022.  For more information and to apply visit

We the Students Essay Contest:
The Bill of Rights Institute offers the We the Students Essay Contest!  This year's question is, "How does an understanding of natural rights and respect build a free society?"  The grand prize is $7,500 and a scholarship to the Constitutional Academy.  Submissions deadline is April 15th at 11:59pm ET.  For more information and to apply visit the We the Students Essay Contest.

The Bill of Rights Institute's National Civics Contest:
MyImpact Challenge is a civic engagement contest hosted by the Bill of Rights Institute.  Their goal is simple: foster a robust understanding of citizenship and get students active in their communities now!  The contest is open until May 16th.  There is $40,000 in prize money available, including $10,000 for the grand prize.  For more information and to register visit MyImpact Challenge.

Cooper Levenson Scholarship:

New Jersey High School Seniors can apply for the Cooper Levenson Scholarship.  Scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate civic responsibility and academic achievement, for use at an accredited college or university.  Applicants must be college-bound seniors in high school.  For more information visit  Deadline is April 8, 2022.  Download a PDF of the scholarship application.

CJPRIDE Scholarship:
CJPRIDE is honored to offer scholarships to high school seniors from underrepresented groups, who plan to enroll in and attend a college or university in the state of New Jersey and pursue education as a career.  Additional consideration will be given to applicants who plan to become teachers in difficult-to-fill areas, including but not limited to Math, Science, Technology, English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education, and World Languages.  The completed application must be submitted by March 25, 2022.  For more information visit

Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship Program:
The Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship Program is offering 150 scholarships of $5000 each for students pursuing associate degrees, credit-bearing certificates, or industry certifications in specified fields of study.  To learn more visit  Deadline to apply is April 1, 2022.

Florida State University Offers Service Scholar Program:
Florida State University offers their Service Scholar Program where students can apply for up to $12,000 in scholarships.  The FSU Service Scholar Program is a 4-year opportunity with service, coursework, and mentorship components.  Applications are due by March 15, 2022.  For more information visit FSU's Service Scholar Program.  To apply visit Apply to be a Service Scholar.

The Horatio Alger National Scholarship:

The Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students that exhibit integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to purse an education. Juniors are encouraged to apply for the specialized awards and those can be found under the “Targeted Scholarships” on the scholarship website.  Eligibility criteria include: plan to pursue a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution; critical financial need, family with income below $55,000 preferred, and U.S. Citizenship.  To apply please visit   Deadline is March 15, 2022.

Tzu Chi Scholars 2022:

The Tzu Chi Foundation is pleased to announce that its scholarship program, Tzu Chi Scholars 2022, is now accepting applications.   All high school graduating seniors are encouraged to apply.  Tzu Ci Scholars are selected on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, and community involvement.  This is a nationwide program program and each scholar will be awarded a total of $1000.  The application can be downloaded at  The application deadline is March 12, 2022.  For more information or with questions, visit or contact the program coordinator, Sam Chou, at 973-857-8666.

The John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest:
The John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest for High School Students is officially open!  They are now accepting submissions from high school students for the 2022 contest.  You can win up to $10,000 for participating!

Sixty-five years ago, John F. Kennedy described the stories of eight U.S. senators who demonstrated great courage under enormous pressure in his Pulitzer Prize-winning book Profiles in Courage.  Although the problems facing our leaders today are different, President Kennedy’s message transcends.  The Profile in Courage Essay Contest is a great way for you to strengthen your research and writing skills while recognizing courageous leaders who have inspired you.

North Carolina State University Offers Park Scholarship:
NC State’s Park Scholarships program includes a four-year scholarship awarded on the basis of outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character and prepares scholars for lifelong contributions to the university, state, nation, and world.  There are separate applications for the Park Scholarships program  and admission to NC State , both of which are now open and due by 11:59 p.m. EDT on November 1 for consideration for the Park Scholarship.  To contact undergraduate admissions, email [email protected].  For questions about the Park Scholarships program, contact [email protected] or visit the Park Scholarship Program.

Elks ENF MVS Scholarship:
The Elks scholarship program has begun for 2022 and it gives them the opportunity to talk to  friends and relatives about Elks and Scholarship.  This year any high school seniors can apply to the Elks MVS Scholarship Contest.  This contest is open to Elks and their extended families and to Non Elks.  The possible awards range from $1,000 to $12,500 per year.  To be eligible, students will be attending a 4 year college on a full time basis in a US College or University.   The deadline to apply is November 15, 2021.  All applications must be completed and submitted before this date.  Students must abide by the conditions set forth at:

Heisman High School Scholarship:
Seniors of the Class of 2022 who are student-athletes should investigate the criteria to apply for the Heisman High School Scholarship at  The web site also has details on how to apply.  Deadline is 10/19/21.

Young Writers Awards @ Bennington College:
The Young Writers Awards at Bennington College include the following areas:  Poetry, Fiction, and Nonfiction.  1st Place Award = $1000; 2nd Place Award = $500; 3rd Place Award = $250.

Bennington College — whose literary legacy includes twelve Pulitzer Prize winners; three U.S. poets laureate; four MacArthur Geniuses; countless New York Times bestsellers; and two of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people — invites submissions for its annual YOUNG WRITERS AWARDS.  Students in grades 9-12 during the current academic year may enter in one 
of the following categories: poetry (a group of three poems), fiction (a short story or one-act play), or nonfiction (a personal or academic essay).  All entries must be original work and sponsored by a high school teacher.
+1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes will be awarded for each genre

Virginia Wesleyan University Offers Merit-Based Scholarships:
Virginia Wesleyan University is Coastal Virginia's premier university for the liberal arts and sciences.  VWU is committed to offering an affordable, private college, liberal arts education for all students.  Every admitted student is eligible for a merit-based scholarship of up to $24,000 per year.  Students can easily determine their scholarship amount with the VWU scholarship calculator.  They will need their cumulative high school GPA and SAT or ACT scores, if they have them (VWU will be test optional for the spring of 2022 and fall of 2022).  Over 98% of VWU students receive financial aid assistance, with an average award package of almost $33,000 per year.

Boston University Trustee Scholarship Competition:
Boston University has announced the 46th annual Boston University Trustee Scholarship Competition.  For more than four decades, the Boston University Trustee Scholars Program has attracted students with outstanding academic ability from around the world.  Trustee Scholars rank at the top of their classes and demonstrate exceptional leadership in their schools and communities.  Scholarship recipients are selected by a faculty committee from a competitive pool of applicants after rigorous review.  The Trustee Scholarship covers full undergraduate tuition plus orientation and mandatory undergraduate student fees for four years.  High achieving students are encouraged to apply for the Trustee Scholarship.  To be considered, students must submit their application for admission with one Trustee Scholarship essay by December 1, 2021.  More information about the Trustee Scholarship can be found on the Boston University web site.  For more information contact John C. NYC BIPOC Scholarship:
Circle in the Square Theatre School is excited to offer full tuition scholarships for four (4) NYC-based BIPOC Actors beginning September 9th, 2021.  

Applicants must meet the following guidelines: 
> Must be at least 17 years of age or older
> Must have received a High School diploma 
> Must live in one of the 5 New York City boroughs, or the immediate surrounding area
